The Alhambra is perched strategically on a hill overlooking the Albaizin neighborhood of Granada with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as its backdrop.
The name comes from the Arabic Al Hamra al Hamara which means red or crimson castle. Spend the day exploring the Alhambra which is made up of the Alcazaba, the Generalife summer palace with its colorful gardens and the Nasrid Palace with its intricate courtyards and fountains.
When you experience the splendor of the Alhambra you will understand why it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited monuments in Spain.
