Interview with the team
Today we are going to interview Thomas Liedtke, Thomas is the co-owner and tour guide of Costa Excursions since 2015. Originally from Germany, Thomas has spent most of his life in southern Spain. Thomas speaks German, Spanish and English.
Thomas is a friendly guy; he loves showing visitors around and he treats visitors as his own friends going always an extra mile to make every tour a unique experience. Thomas has a lot of anecdotes about tours and destinations in southern Spain.
(CE) what do you enjoy most about leading guests?
(T) What I enjoy most is seeing that my guests are really having a good time and a great experience in all of our tours. That is the most important thing for me.
(CE) What is your favorite tour or destination?
(T) I like all the tours and destinations that we offer, but if I have to pick one, I will choose Ronda. Ronda is a very magical place, no matter how many times I go it still surprises me every time I go. I also like the olive oil tour that we offer, it is probably the most authentic thing you can do while you are in southern Spain, the owner Pepi and Juan are great people and they love to show how they produce their own extra virgin olive oil, it is quite an experience.
We are also very flexible with time, if one tour is 6 hours and our clients want to stay a little longer, we always adapt to their needs.
(CE) in your opinion, what is the best time of the year to visit southern Spain?
(T) Definitively spring and fall, the temperature is great during those seasons. The countryside is also beautiful during the spring and fall and we don´t get a lot of rain so sunshine is almost always guarantee.
(CE) Where do your customers come from? Form which countries?
(T) Most of our customers come from North America; USA and Canada. We also get a lot of visitors from Australia and Singapore.
(CE) What is the typical group size of your tours?
(T) Most of ours tours are private so groups tend to be small, 2 to 4 people will be the average. We do also have larger groups like family reunions or company meetings, but no matter the size, our main goal is that people have a good time with us. I like small private groups better because it is a lot more personal and that way our guests get the know the area and customs at a deeper level.
(CE) Do you also drive visitors to the tour location?
(T) Yes, we always pickup our guests at their accommodations, hotel or apartments. On the way to the destination I explain what they should expect from the tour so they have all the highlights beforehand.
